Turns out Amanda's quite into rock music as well, so we went to a big rock/metal festival in Sydney Park together a few weeks ago. I've been growing my hair out for a few months now and Chris mentioned he had some spare black hair dye so I nicked it off him and Amanda helped me dye my hair black on the morning of the festival. I could have left it in a little longer to get it totally black but I rinsed it out early so it's slightly lighter. Either way I think it looks great and having longer hair is much more fun.

The festival itself kicked ass. It started at 10am but we slept in and got there very late- about 4pm I think. We only knew a few of the bands going apart from the headlining acts Offspring and Incubus who were on much later that night. Whoever organised that festival mustn't have ever done it before. There were no maps or timetables for free or for sale anywhere and we turned up without either so we ended up wandering around getting our bearings for the first hour or so, then parked up at what were obviously the main stages for a couple of hours. Eventually they started running out of booze, premix spirits went first, then the full strength beers, then the midstrength. By the end of it it was light beer or nothing, so we were just getting two each at a a time and sculling them. Food ran out about 5 o'clock as well I think.

Anyway- the organisation was shit but the bands rocked the fuck out. We saw Alexisonfire, Incubus, several rock bands I didn't catch the name of, some of Killswitch Engage, then finally stayed for most of a set by The Matches. These guys were really entertaining with great energy and enthusiasm. I don't know how to put it but they were just brilliant to watch and their music is pretty good if not a bit pop-rock-y.

Afterwards we went out to a bar that Amanda used to go to when she lived in the area and had a few drinks then went home. Fucken sweet day all up! Better than BDO. Oh, and Dan Maher's a bastard because we were supposed to meet him and a group of his friends there but his phone 'ran out of battery' and we couldn't contact him the whole day.
