Random collected rants from my journey to live and work in Australia. Big whoop, wanna fight about it?

Sydney/Melbourne Manvasion

In August some of the Chch boys came over to see me and check out Sydney. Mock came over first and stayed a couple of days then John and Gerard came over and manned out place out. I'm surprised they all managed to fit in our apartment but it actually wasn't that bad. I took them to see the Opera House and Harbour Bridge then we went for a couple of beers in The Rocks. Next we walked to Darling Harbour and had a bit of a look around there.

Then I had to leave them to their own devices for a couple of days so showed them how to use the ferries and get around and it sounds like they had fun exploring Sydney. On Wednesday they packed up and went to Melbourne for the second leg of their visit.

Friday night I cabbed to the airport and flew to Melbourne straight after work. It was a bit hectic because from Melbourne airport I had to cab to James and Eneti's place, drop off my bags (and say a quick hi/bye to James' mum) then cab straight to Cat and Duncan's place then cab with them to The Esplanade in St Kilda for a Lyrics Born gig.

That absolutely rocked! One of the best concerts I've been to because most of my good friends were there and we managed to get pretty much front row positions. LB kicks ass!

Saturday night everyone was feeling a bit under the weather so we went out to this weird chinese restaurant that seems to cater exclusively to trashed white people. The place was packed and everything looked like it was covered with a sheet of plastic so they could hose the vomit and blood off the seats when they close each night. There was random weird pop music (and a chinese adaptation of "Happy Birthday" every twenty minutes for some reason)

After that, tired peeps went home and me, Mock and Ju stayed out so Ju could show us some sweet Melbourne bars. There also happened to be the most graphitti'ed alleyway in the world:

On Sunday John and Gerard took off back to NZ and me and Mock flew back to Sydney. He stayed at our place a couple more days then headed back to NZ as well. He's finishing up his job currently and going on a nationwide trip of NZ with help from various mates at various stages. What a moocher!
